I don't know why, but I go through these periods where I get indignant at the way people treat each other, but more especially about the way some men disrespect women. And when that happens, I just HAVE to listen to Queen Latifah's rap U.N.I.T.Y.

I'm not usually a fan of rap music, but daayuuum this is powerful stuff. Unfortunately, the misogyny is never going to stop until women start demanding respect. We all deserve it and we need to stand up for it.

Today was General Conference and it was nice to have Boni join me for the morning session. I particularly enjoyed Elder Holland's talk on the power of words. The one that I think Boni liked the most was Elder Scott's talk about prayer. We had a good discussion afterward and it was nice to be able to share spiritual things with him again. It seems like so long ago that we used to read and discuss the scriptures together, let alone attend church together. I miss that.

I got my hair cut and colored today and I let my hair stylist talk me into getting highlights too. I guess it doesn't look all that bad, but I'm just not used to seeing my hair so light. It's also getting longer and I'm getting to a point where I need to style it or it looks funny. Who knew that knowing how to handle a blowdryer in one hand and a round brush in the other, was a skill you aren't born with? It's going to take some practice, practice, practice.

I've decided that now that the weather is getting warm again and now that I have a larger memory card for my digital camera, I'm going to get out more and take more pictures. With Mom and Dad here next weekend, that'll be a perfect excuse.

(Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and "attending" church in my pajamas while I eat brunch, lol....)
